Course of the ISMH on Balneotherapy

Budapest, Hungary, November 20 - 24, 2006

 

            After the successful course  last year, a course will be organised this year too. The five day  course  dedicated to postgraduate and continuous medical education. The programme covers most of the relevant topics in Balneotherapy, thus being of particular interest to the participants. By providing short reviews and well-selected case studies, the ISMH Course helps the participants prepare for their everyday work.

GENERAL INFORMATION

Beginning and End: The ISMH Course programme will begin on Monday, November 20, 2006, and end on Friday, November 24, 2006.

Arrival Time in Budapest
You should plan to arrive in Budapest not later than 9:00 am on Monday, 20 November, 2006.

Accommodation
Accommodation of all participants from outside Budapest will be in Tulip Inn Hotel Millennium. Registered participants will be informed about hotel registration by the course secretariat.

How to get to the hotel

From Budapest Airport:  After landing, you can get a direct Airport Minibus (the journey costs approximately 3000 HUF / 12 EUR) to the hotel.

From Railway Stations: If you arrive by train, from the Railway station you can take a taxi or use underground line M3 (signed “M”- Metro). It takes only some minutes from the metro station of Nagyvárad tér /square to reach the hotel on foot. (An interactive sitemap can be found on the website of Budapest)

Tourist information:

The capital of Hungary is situated along the Danube. which divides Budapest into two parts:  Buda, which  is located along the right bank of the Danube surrounded by low mountains. Across the river sprawls flat Pest. The geology of Budapest has played a determining role in the city’s life over the course of history. Hot springs breaking through limestone mountains supplying water of 35-76 degrees centigrade gave rise to a flourishing culture of spas in the Roman Age and made Budapest one of the most popular spa cities of Europe.   

The city boasts sites, monuments and spas of worldwide renown. Its numerous cultural events attract a wide international audience. In recent years the UNESCO put several parts of the city on the list of World Heritage.

Banking and exchange:
The official currency is the Hungarian forint (HUF). Regular banking hours are from 9:00 to 16:00 on weekdays, but some exchange offices are open on Saturday morning. Automatic tellers, which you can use with your VISA, Mastercard or most other major credit cards, are available all over the city. Most hotels and shops accept all major credit cards. The exchange rate is approximately 250 HUF/1 Euro.

Visa requirements:

Liability and insurance:
The organizer is not able to take any responsibility whatsoever for injury or damage involving persons and property during the conference. Participants are advised to take out their own personal travel and health insurance for their trip.

Meals and Social Programme
Breakfasts and lunches will be served at the Hotel Millennium.  Social events: sightseeing tour, excursion, visiting thermal baths.

CME Accreditation
Accreditation for European CME credits is being sought for this course (last year it was 24 points).

Course fee
The course fee for registration is EUR 1000.  The course (registration) fee covers: taking part in the course,  summary of lectures, 6 nights accommodation (from 19  till 25 November), 5 lunches,  coffee breaks,  social programmes.
